Is This NYC Band Following Trends or Making Them?

In Loving Memory, a Queens-based duo composed of vocalist Naveed Stone and multi-instrumentalist Thomas Diognardi, have just dropped their latest video for the track “Slave”.  See the full video below!

In Loving Memory – “Slave” (Full Music Video)

“Slave” is their most explicitly hip-hop release to date, but also keeps their alternative and pop roots close to heart.  Stone’s vocals remain as the song’s front and center, breaking down the dream of pop stardom in the context of his own experience as the son of Bangladeshi immigrants with the smooth and clean vocal style for which he is known.  Deviating slightly from their usual guitar-bass-drums setup, “Slave” embraces a more embellished approach to production, utilizing a mixture of piano, strings, bells, and a mixture of natural and synthetic drum sounds. The mixing dances around the speakers, involving a more full array of sounds than a traditional approach to instrumentation would allow.

In Loving Memory

“Slave” is a passionate and heartfelt release that anybody who has ever dreamt of achieving a greater purpose can relate to, especially anyone who has ever felt discouraged by those around them from doing so.  “Slave” brings to heart the idea of striving for one’s own self-determined destiny and refusing to be placed inside the box that society gives to us.  Tune into In Loving Memory Below!
